Job Description

  • Working with the Brazil Breeding Lead to develop a robust breeding strategy and execution plan for Safrihna corn and summer corn in Brazil.
  • Defining the breeding objectives for the main corn market and making the corresponding breeding plan according to the breeding objectives.
  • Leading the team to carry out corn breeding activities, including corn inbred line development, hybrid creation and yield testing, product advancement and commercialization and etc.
  • Preparing nursery and yield trial experiments. Collecting field notes on key agronomic traits on inbred lines and hybrids. Making assessment of pipeline performance in alignment with market needs.
  • Effectively integrate the DH lines, MAS, GS and data management skills into the breeding program. Developing and deploying new breeding technologies.
  • Responsible for recruiting and training the team members, improving their professional capabilities and work efficiency.
  • Fully responsible for the breeding station management, including the property and personnel safety.
  • Reporting to the Crop Breeding Leader in China with regular conference meeting.

Professional Knowledge & Experience:

  • Master degree and above in genetics, genomics, pathology, and/or plant breeding;
  • Good understanding of Brazil’s corn germplasm and corn market;
  • Basic knowledge in plant physiology, entomology, field management, molecular markers;
  • Knowledge in experiment design and statistical data analysis;
  • At least 8 years experiences in corn breeding in tropical area;

  • Ability to function within a matrix organization;
  • Good communication skills, Planning, Project and People Management skills;
  • Fluent in English.
